Many of the images shown here are influenced by prehistoric rock carving and painting and by ancient civilizations. They acknowledge the strong bonds between mankind and the environment. They respond to the effects of time and accident and the way in which imagery may be altered or initially hidden from view depending on how it is found and seen.

Other recent work is about the process of rebuilding, the rearrangement of materials and ideas. I use work destroyed by accident or made for the purpose together with found papers and carefully reassemble to create new images.

Influences

Early civilizations, prehistoric art, rock marks, hidden imagery, landscape, walking, poetry.

Career path

My career in art began when I took a one year Foundation in art at Chelsea School of Art as a mature student. I then studied for a degree in Fine Art at Hornsey Art School. This was an open and conceptual course which encouraged the exchange of ideas and individual development. I have been a practicing artist for more than 20 years showing work on a regular basis for the past 10 years. My career has been a gradual process of learning, exploring and developing ideas.
