Simone
Loi
Simone Loi is an Italian artist who works in a wide range of
styles including music, jewellery, sculpture and, as this one,
events. This event comes as a sequel to an event he staged last
year in London, where there were a few apples distributed around
three stops on the Circle Line. The event was called 'steal this
apple', hence the title of the upcoming intervention. This time
around, there are 12 apples for 12 Underground Lines, distributed
in the trains themselves. The apple is no longer singular, unique,
nor is it lying static in a predetermined location.
They are on the move already, and will be so for an undetermined
period of time. When a potential participant decides to intervene
and 'steal' an apple, the trajectory of this apple is altered
and it takes on a new line of flight entering into relations with
different components (the person who took it, new surroundings).
The proposition put forward by the artist is simply an option
to participate in this experiment by affecting the 'Movement'
of these apples and when doing so, to report back on the whereabouts
of the apples by sending pictures, comments, opinions, and such,
to a public domain, thus making visible some of these transactions
between components.
